In this lunch lecture, Joris van Dongen from Witteveen+Bos will take you through the design of the electrical installation, machine safety, and cybersecurity for the rebuilding of two bridges in the project ‘bruggen Krommenie’. Projects like this are integrated projects with many disciplines, including civil engineering, mechanical engineering, geotechnical engineering, and environmental management. Effective coordination among all these disciplines is essential. There is also an interface with an adjacent railway bridge, which must be designed together with ProRail. The road bridges will be remotely operated in the future, so there is also an interface with the control center of the province. In short, we will walk you through the project and highlight the parties that need to be considered in such an integrated project. It is a complex puzzle that makes the work of an engineer challenging!
